It is with great sadness that we tell you Ian McLagan passed away earlier this evening, 3 December 2014, following complications from a stroke suffered on Tuesday.

“I am completely devastated by this shocking news and I know this goes for Ronnie and Rod also” Kenney Jones said in a statement posted on Mac's website. Michael Hann writing on the Guardian website posted a moving tribute that would no doubt bring a smile to Mac's face: "The keyboard player of the Small Faces and the Faces was a man who could bring whatever colour a song needed, and make it soar..."

"Mac was a musical force of nature, so full of life. I shall miss his quick, sharp wit, his energy and total enthusiasm for everything we did, from working on the Small Faces remasters with Kenney to ensuring everyone had a pint of Guinness when we met up in a pub during his London visits. Just a "quick one" he'd say (always an understatement!). Cheers Mac, one last time "Up The Wooden Hills To Bedfordshire".
